Zixi witnesses rapid growth in tourism

Zixi, a county in Jiangxi province, has made efforts to tap its existing tourism resources, enrich and expand the scope of tourism, and improve tourism services since the beginning of this year. The efforts have resulted in rapid growth in the tourism sector.

From January to August, Zixi received 1.12 million tourists from home and abroad, with tourist revenue increasing by 24 percent to 590 million yuan ($92.93 million) since the same period last year.

Zixi also made plans in recent years to develop ecological tourism. The plans tapped the potential tourist resources of new scenic spots such as Jiulong Lake, Fangjia Mountain and Li Gou's former home. The county also enhanced well-established scenic areas like Dajue Mountain and the Fashui hot spring. As a result, the county attracted investment of nearly 4 billion yuan ($630 million) from both governmental and non-governmental funds.

Zixi grew its tourism industry further by developing a series of participatory tourist activities like canyon drifting and jungle exploring.
