Wuyuan county of the Jiangxi province was awarded the first National County Tourism Vacation Zone by the National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China on Nov 29, 2011. The county has been planning and upgrading its scenic spots to develop its local tourist resources. Many scenic spots are scheduled to begin operation by March, 2012.

Wuyuan county has completed the diversion project for the Likeng scenic spot, solving the issue regarding a lack of water during the dry season. Wangkou scenic spot and Di public housing were rebuilt according to their original appearances, which further explores the cultural and historical significance of the Wangkou ancient village.

The very old bridge, Rainbow Bridge, has been maintained and its facilities were restored. The reconstruction project for the Beiting walkway for pedestrians was also completed. Wolong Valley cable construction will be finished in the near future and will allow tourists to view the beautiful scenery from a birds-eye perspective. The Jiangwan tea houses have opened and hold regular tea ceremony performances to help tourists learn about Wuyuan's tea culture.
