Over 5.5 million tourists visit Jiangxi during the Spring Festival

During the Spring Festival "golden week", Jiangxi province attracted a total of 5.5 million tourists at home and abroad, a year-on-year increase of 18.07 percent. The tourism sector earned 1.97 billion yuan ($313 million), with a growth of 19.75 percent year-on-year.

The province carried out a "Free Ticket Month" event lasting from Dec 20, 2011 to Jan 20, 2012 for all tourist attractions in Jiangxi. As many as 71 key destinations aroused the interests of tourists in the province.

During the festival, Mount Lushan, Jinggang Mountain, Mount Sanqing and Mount Wugong boasted a spectacular landscape covered with ice and snow. Wuyuan organized various tourist activities such as folk dance performances and dragon lantern shows. The folk performances in Yaoli of Jingdezhen, the court trial performance in ancient county yamen (government office in feudal China) and the porcelain music performance attracted the attention of tourists.

Nanchang, Pingxiang, Xinyu, Ganzhou and Fuzhou also had tourism activities featuring the local culture.

The hot spring resort, village recreation, red culture attractions, snowfield tour, view of migratory birds and other tourism products with winter characteristics in Jiangxi became hotspots during this period.
